The Epson this year decided to replace the more perhaps “moscholpoylimeno” model in the middle category of home cinema projectors, TW9200. So we decided to add one more “katostada” in the name of and to present the new TW9300.

Can not prwtotypise in the new name of the projector, but to all other prwtotypise …

From the first communication already gave us the impression that this new model comes as a simple replacement as it was the case of the vis TW9200 earlier 9000, 9100 and others that it is basically a completely new model designed entirely from scratch. This of course left to prove when the projector reached our hands for a full test, and guess, arrived … 🙂

Let’s start this very interesting review well taking a brief look at the features of TW9300

The new Epson’s projector comes equipped with that last one exists at the moment in the magical world of projected image featuring new Epson 3LCD optical machine fitted with the latest generation panel 0.74 D9, new chassis, new electric as to the zoom/focus/shift lens and optics, 4 lens enhancement, certification HDR10 and 2.2 HDCP for viewing 4K UHD BD hardware as well as the ability to view full DCI color triangle.

And the list continues, new dynamic IRIS for even more smooth improvement of contrast, adding a second manual IRIS for ultimate brightness control, new high-pressure LAMP 250W for performance even greater brightness, new algorithms F. I and redesigned cooling system for best temperature dissipation and lower noise levels.

We said, the TW9300 is a totally new model!

Unfortunately, all these radical changes forced the Epson with the TW9300 to leave orphaned most popular middle class of ~ 2000 euros and to pass to the next, the ~ 3000 euros. So with retail price in € 3,299 Epson no longer enters into deep waters and definitely raises expectations. If this generous increase in pricing policy or not reflects the features of the new model, is something that will infer it yourself by reading the following lines of this review if you don’t get tempted to answer me:)

Presentation

The projector came before us new with 0 hours and of course as with any new model coming to our place was followed faithfully the control process of packaging for any flammable or other dangerous “inedible” materials:)

DSC03784

DSC03789

Although the process took slightly longer than previous times as you have seen, and from photos, finally given approval for unpacking:)

DSC03795

The first shock comes from the size of TW9300. O projector is TERRIFIC! It is almost twice the size of the upcoming TW9200 to imagine. See how it looks in front of one of the mirkoys of Optoma DLP and you’ll understand what I mean..

DSC03810

Second shock; The build quality that doesn’t resemble ANYTHING absolutely the Epson projector (sorry Epson). Talking about rugged construction 11 kg with beautiful matte finish and plastic kaloefarmosmena. A true jewel for the ceiling of my house …

Me; I said; Sorry I got confused on the ceiling of your living meant … 🙂

In the same context in motion and control of remote TW9300, and it’s like I grew up and tipped it seemed … at least retained the very nice orange lighting on the keys of

DSC03813

DSC03814

The familiar panel with sliding door for the main function keys there and in TW9300. I guess 9 out of 10 owners of you’ll never open this door with such “tilekontrolara” featuring the TW9300

DSC03800

From the new Epson has ports except the 2 HDMI (with the first being the HDCP compatible 2.2), USB, LAN, VGA, serial RS-232 and trigger out to give instruction on your screen to open simultaneously with the projector.

DSC03809

To conclude this brief presentation of TW9300 will tell you only that the changes in build quality and design this projector is EPSON’s dramatic, do we bang with the first contact.

In these areas the TW9300 has definitely changed category and has switched to a clearly higher, in other areas, however, what happens? Don’t worry, we drank the blood drop by drop and draw our own conclusions, read this review and will eject and you yours I guess..

Menu/sliders

The TW9300 erected across the screen, made the necessary connections, On button pressed, and did light!

DSC03816

The first picture that sees anyone having kindled the TW9300 without him has fueled with a signal is informative and is following

DSC03944

I’ve locked the projector with 1080p24 signal from the computer and I started my tour on sliders.

Pressing the menu comes on screen the known picture menu which has accustomed us to all the Epson home cinema projector TW9xxx series of recent years, change no, xepernaw … go below:)

DSC03845

This first option (image) is the most important in the menu of the projector, because here in lies an abyss of image sliders … go to see

The user has the possibility to choose one of the five pre-set Color modes for viewing 2D image or one of the two modes for viewing 3D 3D hardware.

DSC03850

Apart from the known (other major) of the brightness and contrast sliders the next important is this white temperature, the color temperature. Here the user can choose one of the preset temperature or to enter the customized option and manually hurt individual primaries

DSC03851

DSC03855

With the slider skin tone I forgot to tell you to play with the color temperature in the skin of persons, works, well …

Next is the slider frame interpolation. The slider it for those who do not know is actually a motion Smoothing slider 24Hz with the method of adding rebuilt frame from projector’s image processor.

DSC03856

The slider image enhancement is perhaps one of the most interesting because our sliders opens a magic “window” in the world of image enhancement in a unique way and completely functional.

4K enhancement To the activate ONLY when we feed our projector with 4K material and ever, because in material 2K the “negative” effects are many and varied, this as a footnote. The remaining sliders work flawlessly in the field image enhancement, here the Epson hasn’t done just good, other excellent work

DSC03857

Worth the read what each slider does..

An example of what you can accomplish by playing only with the fine line adjust of super resolution (focus in the grid of the spaceship, the improvement is dramatic)

DSC03844

DSC03843

Generally the other image enhancement and the Sharpness slider featuring the TW9300 work “soft” even at extreme settings. Improve the picture largely with little or no side effects. For me is by far the best sharpness sliders/image enhancement I’ve ever seen on a projector, regardless of price.

A perhaps of the greatest sliders (other and image parameter) is that of gamma. The TW9300 has two sliders, a total of values from-2 to 2 and a detailed per 10IRE.

DSC03858

DSC03859

Finally we have a slider for the power of the lamp with three (!) even options..

tw9300 lamp mode

the basic CMS for the arrangement of colors..

tw9300_cms

and finally the dynamic IRIS slider that helps the projector to increase the contrast in dark scenes difficult. The best option is by far the high speed. Incidentally the subject of operation of IRIS Epson’s engineers have made very significant improvements, more on impressions ….

tw9300 iris

Not to bore you with all the other secondary projector sliders will see only two more important than the rest of the menu and will move on to the next section a and hurry your inclined to what counted and what I saw.

One of these is the slider panel alignment which helps to regulate any deviation of some pixel even at specific point of our frame. Works perfectly, I daresay better than what I had tried to TW9200 (which was already good enough to call things by their name)

DSC03867

DSC03868

.. and the other is a new slider that has added the Epson in TW9300 and correct any color uniformity of our frame. Kalodechoymeno well as one of the major problems faced by owners of previous TW9xxx series was this color uniformity.

Only I experimented with it because the TW9300 shows in this area not just improved other free will say of such disadvantages of the past.

DSC03869

Somewhere here Let’s finish once and for all with the explanation of the regulatory TW9300 ‘s and let’s move on, that I don’t know about you, I was expecting that and how, why …

… You can hide by many for a while, a few for much, of the measuring instruments but never!

What I say man. 🙂

Measurements

Let’s start with a set of RGB/gamma measurements in 5 basic 2D modes TW9300 toy to see what birds catching out of the box …

tw9300 cinema mode

tw9300 natural mode

tw9300 digital cinema mode

tw9300 bright cinema mode

tw9300 dynamic mode

The natural and cinema modes come factory very well regulated. In both ratings are excellent gamma and RGB temperature at very good levels. I dare to say that it is the best out of the box Epson projector that have seen my eyes …

And here after a few minor adjustments to the sliders of the two basic mode

tw9300 natural calibrated mode

tw9300 cinema calibrated mode

The other modes (which for me have no raison d’etre) is not the same well, other show prowrismena for situations like football match with lights, etc.

The best mode and what they propose and the Epson to use if you want to see other movies you are and just explore and will do and then to settings, is the natural.

The Cinema is also designed for movies, comes surprisingly factory-configured, it offers brightness for smaller, more human frames, but if you decide to play this material color standard REC. 709 then you definitely need to set the CMS accordingly, because as you’ll see in the following charts, the cinema mode comes factory with triangle set against DCI.

The said and did the Epson. He managed to set up the TW9300 so you can be 100% returns the color triangle DCI, only tribute we can give to this technological leap.

natural color mode

tw9300 natural rec.709

cinema color mode (see the expanded DCI triangle)

tw9300 cinema dci

I will leave it without comment the DCI color triangle, not that there is at least impressive, others will confine myself in REC. 709 which is the triangle of natural mode that will use most owners of TW9300 for viewing HD Blu-ray and I will say simply that touches perfection.

Let’s move on to look at detailed measurements of brightness that I got from TW9300

tw9300 lumens

Conclusion, the TW9300 now passes into the realm of very strong, as far as the light of headlamps. Available in natural mode from 493 to 1413 kalimprarismena (!) lumen can play literally in any screen size of put across. Key not just to play but to play and excellent set!

The manual IRIS that added the Epson in TW9300 does an excellent job and 20 shades allows the user to accurately adjust the brightness that is appropriate for the area and the screen. Extraordinary things we see from Epson, what to say …

In dynamic mode o TW9300 produces close to actual lumen brightness 2,300. The figure for those who don’t understand is huge. Such numbers really wring professional projectors of 4-5,000 registered lumen. I know that none of you are going to use it as a mode (except unique exceptions on huge screens and bright areas) other is and what an impressive feature I think.

Let’s see and the measurement uniformity of brightness TW9300

screen measurement

I would say no bad measurement for 3LCD projector, to the right was a little warm, so the slight drop in brightness which is fixed with the corresponding slider as you will read below.

Somewhere here and closing section measurements to see what TW9300 did to IVF if and painful (as) measurement of on/off contrast.

tw9300 contrast

And here the new Epson’s projector showed significant improvement over the model it replaced. Maximum measurement on/off in 9,500:1 around is near 90% increase compared to its predecessor. Even the 6,179:1 the natural mode is a very good number contrast. If you combine this on/off with his excellent IRIS then dark scenes you get in return from the TW9300 is really exceptional.

One last thing that I almost forgot, behind this Calvary measurements hiding some unsung heroes. I think they deserve a bit of publicity sometimes and I decided to give my faithful companion and Assistant who by turns out top every time …

Ladies and gentlemen the CA813:)

DSC03835

Impressions

Lens/sharpness

Here is perhaps the biggest improvement that could make the Epson projector. The new electric lens comes in addition to the elite of good lenses that at times I have tried and seen.

To focus is superb from edge to edge of the image to such an extent that exposing her the “downside” of large gap of pixel, characteristic of LCD technology. Important also that now the setting is easy since you can solder your face literally on the screen and with the remote control to do precise calibrations, something that is the big problem of manual lenses.

Moderate problems focus of previous models of Epson passed consigned to the dustbin of history ladies and gentlemen …

DSC03823

DSC03831

Notice how well “cleans up” the pixel through this quality lens …

DSC03832

The huge improvement in the definition of TW9300 is even better understood once rebates and zero all sliders acidity and improve the image of the projector. Even then the 9300 says not to lose something from the xyrafenia image.

DSC03939

The projector has a huge zoom 2.1:1 and can produce 100 inch image from 3 up to 6.2 meters! Also electric (huge and this!) shift lens makes positioning even in the most difficult site a breeze.

Excellent with ton of me on TW9300 for the lens, we waited years this upgrade on Epson LCD projectors and finally came!

Convergence/white uniformity

On the topic of convergence of TW9300 we can mention only academic one and now with a regulatory convergence is so loud that even in “bad” piece to fall the process to bring in very good level is simple and easy.

For the record, I will say that the piece that I had in my hands was very good convergence and not had to intervene in the corresponding slider (Rob make from 1/3rd pixel in blue and red, just for the record).

DSC04026

In mind that floodlights with wide lens shift if we make extensive use of, then depending on the movement of the lens can create some form of bad convergence at some point of our frame. Here the TW9300 no worries because of good conduct and in this area, gives the possibility to hurt her and corrections SW convergence points in frame, something that solves such problems if they arise.

In the matter of uniformity now what to say. The projector is not reminiscent of nowhere that belongs to their particular predecessor 3LCD, and only if you want anyway to find something negative then I would say that the piece that I had for review in a little bit to the left of the screen the white temperature was slightly warmer (not imagine visible variation, redness and on like older TW9xxx) , this gave a slight unevenness of light. Of course I was tempted to try the new regulatory disparity that has provided the the Epson TW9300 and through the corrected with a few clicks, really incredible and this!

(in the mind that the lamp had 0 hrs, reasonably may change and behavior uniform slightly with the run-in)

Generally the free variety shows TW9300 projector. Now what if you changed the hours uses and the strain of the optical engine is something that only time can answer.

Operating noise

From a projector 11 kilos, of such magnitude, designed for home cinema use do not expect anything other than to go well in the field operating noise.

The TW9300 did not disappoint me, to be more precise with charmed. With the position lamp in ECO position the projector’s cooling system shows almost never works. Is completely silent on the ears of the beholder and with only ntesimelometro up (!) to the projector you can count the difference, to hear nor debate, you must solder your ear on ventilation grilles of the TW9300 to happen.

DSC03943

In operation

DSC03945

Incredible?true…

If you change the setting in high lamp mode then and only then you realize that within this projector might return and some fans, nothing annoying or perceived by the viewing position of course.

Something I noticed only and must mention is that activating the 4K enhancement I detected a different pitched noise like to get ahead some tiny  blower. There is no question of increasing operating noise, just thought it right to mention this as a comment.

24Hz frame motion

Here the TW9300 has two sides. A positive and a negative.

When the joints with HD signal in 24Hz (the TW9300 locks lightning to say somewhere here) the motion is extremely smooth and does not resemble anything its predecessor or any LCD implementation I have seen so far (including expensive JVC D-ILA series). In short handle 24 frames just exceptionally. Good to here …

The projector however and aiding with the slider That F.I. has three operating positions (except Off)

DSC03856

In the low post not noticed dramatic differences in the already very good move of 9300 other started in some hard scenes to have some small artifacts and some mikroskalwmata, not anything important, others with minimal improvement I saw in motion there is and why to activate.

In normal position things get better on the field move more of the above mentioned problems are increasing slightly.

In the high position but starts normal celebration. Skalwmata and articles in almost any difficult frames.

Generally I would say that the frame interpolation of TW9300 I didn’t like (may not work well with my PC; passed this from my mind …). Fortunately the projector without the use of has excellent movement, this saves will say a lot and you can see the movies of 24arwn frames seamlessly without the use of any device.

Picture

Here’s where to start and where to end. If you say to the one that the 3,299 euro requesting the TW9300 deserve until the last minute you will kalypta?

Yes I know, out of the 2,000 euros to go to 3,300 is a big leap, and not at all pleasant for us consumers. Bigger yet jump is what TW9300 has done to the image issue. The projector does not have ANY relationship with any company’s model (strip out the LS1000 which I haven’t seen) have or have seen, is in another category, and doesn’t really talk this pricing policy, talk about picture quality category.

Let’s start from the basics.

On LCD projector the way that hides the LCD failure (the large gap between the pixel) is something unprecedented for the Viewer. The image is compact as class DLP and only if you approach too close to the screen start to understand some difference. This is something that I can’t explain technically, more happens.

The TW9300 has improved the ansi contrast of to an extent that I dare say has reached or surpassed everyone and everything. I can’t speak for measurement, this is extremely difficult to get as I’ve already said on earlier articles, I talk about this that empowerment as a spectator in movies and patterns, with a few words on viewing material. Now that has accomplished what the Epson, projector that wears even panel this year, is something that I can’t explain, and tell you something; nor am interested to do. .. leave me alone to see..

As long as you put the following pattern and all your doubts regarding the ansi contrast in LCD projector will be past in record time.

DSC03836

If you do not have the appropriate pattern then scenes like the following will send you “visually” in paradise …

DSC03985

DSC0397111

DSC0396887

On purely dark scenes the TW9300 now behaves and there brilliantly. Improved black level (slight mpledizon) compared with the TW9200 is in practice quite higher than proclaiming the sizes and measurements. It is by far the first 3LCD projector which I played dark scenes without even using dynamic IRIS and impressed to such an extent. On the other hand, enabling the dynamic IRIS dark scenes are becoming clearly more three-dimensional texture, white become brighter black darker.

DSC04005

DSC03972

DSC03952

Two things about the dynamic iris of TW9300 as I experienced during testing. In the high speed position you get wind that works rarely to never. Do awesome work (coupled with the dynamic gamma working in parallel) on dark scenes and suggest to have always enabled.

Will the catch red-handed rarely sudden alternations of dark and bright scenes more in relation to the benefits you will gain by having the activated there is no reason to be in a dilemma as regards the activation or not.

As regards viewing the films.

Any other use (surfing, etc.) will annoy enough, because there gets confused and starts acting strangely and abruptly throwing light on places that has not managed to understand that last little. Such as parentheses in function of the dynamic IRIS.

On dark scenes well and in medium mixed shots the TW9300 is King of the category in which it moves and not only. Losing only by the JVC X5000 who returns and triple contrast don’t forget (and it costs EUR 1200 and above), but not the difference that many imagine or the numbers are telling us, not to tell you that in ansi contrast may be getting rollovers. However a contra between them would be extremely interesting and maybe be able to accomplish in the near future.

I will try with a typical score to your katatopisw better if this can be done without to see the projector with your own eyes. To manage other dark scenes in headlights up to 5000 euro we have and say

  • JVC X5000 10
  • Epson TW9300 8
  • Epson TW9200 5

In other scenes illuminated and imifwteines the TW9300 continues to impress having in the arsenal of the excess brightness at any time you may need, the perfectly calibrated from the factory colors and improved sharpness and clarity that was missing from the TW9200. I say was missing, because although the TW9200 that I tried responded just fine at above image parameters, I’m sure after this review that if put next to TW9300 will not believe our eyes from the differences that we see.

conclusion

With the Epson TW9300 passes in a completely different category than the one that was moving up today. In this Timologiaka of 3-4 thousand euro and in this image of the “big” boys.

The projector returns overall extremely big trump the excess brightness and extremely dark shots. I will not talk about DCI color triangle, the HDR certification, the 4 k enhancement, etc. You can read its features, I can speak only for what I saw.

The TW9300 is by far the best Epson I have seen my eyes until today and I cannot deny that the hour of parting with him was difficult, very difficult, if you understand what I mean.

After exhaustive tests and measurements in really I can confidently now to answer the question if the 1200 euros above that you call to pay the applicant the owner in connection with the TW9200 well spent or not, with a not-so-immediate response. The TW9300 ladies and gentlemen it seems “cheap” for what it offers, this is my answer.
